ECW Press is having a speculative fiction writing contest and you are invited. The indie  publishing house is seeking unpublished manuscripts between 40,000 and 150,000 words written in English by Canadian authors as part of their effort to build a list of diverse speculative fiction titles. They are accepting science fiction, fantasy, and speculative fiction submissions for a prize of $3000 and a publishing offer.

The contest will be judged by Terese Mason Pierre and Jen R. Albert, both award-nominated writers and editors of speculative fiction. They will specifically be looking for high-quality writing, characters, and narratives in works that are innovative and disruptive to the speculative fiction genre. Speculative fiction includes fantasy, supernatural, apocalyptic, and more, but the contest also invites manuscripts that combine speculative and non-speculative elements (hello, fantasy romance and supernatural westerns).

The contest winner will work closely with both judges to prepare their manuscript for publication, and ECW Press may make additional publishing offers to non-winning entrants, so this is a great opportunity to get your work read and considered by some publishers and editors.

To enter, submit your manuscript, a short description of the book, and a short personal bio through the Google form on the ECW Press website. The deadline to submit is October 31, 2021—spooky.

She organizes her books by colour, and she's sorry if you find that offensive.
